Today in SCIENCE we:
  • Didn't do current events......why was that?
  • Had a chat about what happened on Tuesday.
  • Started to watch "The Day After Tomorrow".
  • What does this movie have to do with Heat & Temperature? Interactions & Ecosystems? Plants for Food & Fibre?
  • Finish up the 4 ayl's in the Heat & Temperature unit for homework. You should have started all of them.

  • Did Current Events. You time is almost up to get this done. What are you going to do about it?
  • Vocabulary should be in your duotangs.
  • Handed in sia7 p237 ayl #1-5 & Give it a try on p 239.
  • Went outside and worked on two give it a try activites. P229 - about thermostats and p245 - what do you use electricity for. Did you read the instructions CAREFULLY?
  • Did some fire demonstrations outside.......what is a bimetallic strip? How does it work? How does that relate to a thermostat?
  • READ sia7 p238-250. Do sia7 p251 ayl #1-5.
  • You will have handed in four (4) ayl's by the end of this unit.

  • Worked on ayl, sia7 p237 #1-5. Due Tuesday.

  • Did a surprise quiz. How did it go?
  • Handed in our convection conduction radiation posters.
  • Got lots of stuff handed back. How did you do?
  • Read sia7 p222-234.
  • Worked on sia7 p235 Mission to Mars. How did you do? How creative were you?
  • This is due next class. I can't wait to see what you have come up with!

Today in SCIENCE we:
  • Did Current Events.
  • Got a VOCABULARY word search for Heat & Temperature sections 3 & 4.
  • Talked about Particles, states of matter, & changing states of matter.
  • Saw how change of states work on the smartboard. What happens when we add heat to something? Take away heat from something?
  • What is the difference between HEAT & TEMPERATURE?
  • Worked on sia7 p202 #1 as a class.
  • What are CONDUCTION, CONVECTION, & RADIATION? (sia7 p211 & 213)
  • Homework: sia7 p221 #1-5. Worked on our "miniposters" for question one today.

Today in SCIENCE we:
  • Did Current Events.
  • Put our Vocabulary word searches & vocabulary work in our vocabulary duotangs.
  • Handed in our Short Story about "No Heat in January"
  • Read & Answered the Three questions in the Career Profile sia7 p188. Put this in our JOURNALS.
  • Did sia7 ayl p189 #1-5. What do you know about HEAT TECHNOLOGIES?
  • We did some reading together & talked about the Particle Theory of Matter. We also talked about Different States of Matter. We also talked about what happens when we ADD HEAT & TAKE AWAY HEAT.
  • DO YOU UNDERSTAND THESE CONCEPTS? What 3 things do we talk about when we are describing the STATES of matter?
  • Read sia7 p190-220. Omit p195, 197, 201, 204, 207, 208, 210, 218-219. We already read some of these pages as a class. Do you remember which parts we highlighted as being important?
  • You will have QUESTIONS based on this READING on THURSDAY.
  • Remember your ELA Part A EXAM is TOMORROW. Bring a dictionary, thesaurus, water bottle, & a book to read after you are done.

  • Did Current Events.
  • Read sia7 p176-178. What questions should you keep in mind about this unit?
  • Looked at the DEVELOPMENT of HEAT TECHNOLOGIES timeline, sia7 p184.
  • Did the give it a try activity on sia7 p182. What is your short story going to be about?
  • Looked at fire. Looked at how heat can affect certain things. You already know alot about this unit!!
  • DUE TUESDAY: Vocabulary & Short Story.
