HAPPY HOLIDAYS 7B

• Great work getting current events done! I'm very proud of you.
• Your homework, those questions in sia7, you need to prioritize. Good job to those of you that got them done. I expect to see the rest of them in my hands the FIRST day back to school BEFORE the bell goes.
• Hope you enjoyed your celebration, we'll finish the movie on our first day back.

Today in SCIENCE we:

• Did Current Events. Nice work people!
• Did NOT do vocabulary. Are you up to date with your vocabulary duotang?
• Reviewed our BRIDGES worksheet. Do you know which bridge is which?
• Did a FORCES lab with marshmellows & handed it in. NICE WORK AGAIN 7B!
• Planned our WINTER CELEBRATION for FRIDAY. Please remember NO electronics. You may bring board games & food. I will play a movie.
• For our celebration to occur, current events MUST be done and EVERY person MUST hand in sia7 c&r p306 #1 & 2. We talked about these questions in class. This should take you 10 minutes or so to answer. READ sia7 p300-306 (omit p304-305) for help.
• What does the word OMIT mean?

Today in SCIENCE we:

• Did Current Events.....good work people! Is your turn on WEDNESDAY? BE READY.
• Started our Stress our Marshmellow Lab. If you were away, you will need to get caught up!
• Got a new vocabulary today - #20.
• Bring your marshmellow handout to class on WEDNESDAY.
• Did an EGG Experiement. What was our hypothesis? Based on what previous knowledge? What were our results? Did our results support our hypothesis?
• Watched Planet Earth Caves. If you had to sell a structure, how would you do that? What kinds of features would you look for? How could you MARKET them, or make them appealing for a potential buyer? Make a list, then come up with a strategy.
• Do a rough draft of a COMIC STRIP that could help you sell these structures.
• Structural shapes, components, stress, failure & fatigue. What do they mean?
• How do we build a structure for stability?
• What are some PROPERTIES of building materials? What is a property?
• 7B, it is cold out there, please remember to dress WARMLY!!

• There was a mistake - last day's vocabulary was #18, not 19.
• Finished building our bridges.
• Did a presentation to the class about the bridge our group built.
• Worked on our bridges handout.
• Read sia7 p296-298.
• Do sia7 p299 #1 & 2.

Today in SCIENCE we:

• Did current events - good work, are you ready for Thursday?
• Got vocabulary #19 - see the side lists!! Due Thursday
• What are load, static load, and dynamic load?
• In Groups, Using K'nex, we made the type of bridge assigned to us.
• IF WE FINISHED our bridge we had a worksheet to work on.
• All of our bridges are in the classroom, we will present them next day.
• HOMEWORK: do sia7 p293 #1-4.

Today in SCIENCE we:

• Had Current Events - WELL DONE! Is it your turn on Tuesday?
• Reviewed what we have learned so far in structures and forces.
• Read sia7 p280 - 282 together. What did you learn about FORCES?
• Can you define MAGNITUDE, DIRECTION & LOCATION as they apply to FORCES?
• Read sia7 p 284 as a class. What is a NEWTON? Did p284 c&r #3 in class. Do you understand it?
• We identified structures in our classroom and classified them as; shell, frame or solid. Can you have a structure that falls into more than one of these categories?
• HOMEWORK: Read & UNDERSTAND sia7 p 285-294, OMIT p 292-293.

• Watched a Bill Nye the Science Guy Video on Structures & Forces. What is the difference between TENSION & COMPRESSION?
• Finished our Famous Structures Presentations. Well done!
• Did Current Events. Well Done! Is it your turn on FRIDAY? Please be ready!
• Got a new schedule for current events. You are set until the end of January. Please highlight your name so you know when your turn is.
• Handed in our Structures & Forces title pages.
• Talked about STRUCTURE & FUNCTION.
• Talked about FRAME, SOLID, & SHELL structures.
• Have a LOOK at sia7 p278 give it a try. What do you think? Come prepared to discuss your ideas.
• DO sia7 p279 ayl #1-4. Yes, you need to write the question down.
